PBEM Campaign Summary and History of Events This file contains a very brief summary of events and the overall history of the PBEM campaign. The P&P games I've run has been going on for over 20 years and too numerous to be detailed here. So this only results in the most recent history and the history of the PBEM up to this point. [Two Years before Adventure #1] The last few big adventures with the veteran player group (that is Thig, Varange, Xian, Farseeker and Balrog among others) occured in the Port Doman area. Here the group was stranded for a time in a hostile land returning to Marentia. While in Port Doman the party learned of a Kotothi temple that was causing major regional problems with the nearby lands. Even though the party was in hostile land to them they sought this temple out to destroy its influence. Heading deep into the Jungle they found the temple eventually. But they found it empty of people. Entering they found the temple was a focus for Kotothi forces. The various evil rooms inside has deadly creatures including a Hydra and Dark Seperents to name a few. After killing the creatures the temple itself was destroyed by killing its focal point. Some time later the party left Port Doman and ended up Vahear to try and find a new way home into the Sea of Tears. The party had some minor adventures dealing with a ruthless pirate and some unjust justice of Vahear peasants. Here Thig would find Naptha for the first time. Soon after the party left Vahear and went straight to Marentia into the city of Sivas. [One Year before Adventure #1] [Adventure #1] Once back home the party started to rest and form a new life But soon Varange was enthralled in intrigue. He would be kidnapped by Gargoyles. The party would learn months later the Gargoyles worked for Clima but didn't know the reason until Adventure #1 when it was figured they were trying to capture Varange to hold hostage as with their Diplomatic Hostage Program. Varange was able to escape but decided to return home with some secret information he had learned but refused to share. He would head home to report to the Faerry King and Queen personally. Meanehilw Timon, Xian's brother had a plan of his own. Feeling betrayed by his dead father and Xian he set his plans in motion. While King Maros was on a personal tour of Sivas, Timon boldly stalked the King. Guarded by 30 guards Timon used his Time spells and other magics to simply walk into the carriage and teleport the King away. Timon would take him however to his own home cabin. Xian and the others had learned of this and investigated the attack. Xian figured out where Timon went and chase was given. But Timon had setup magic in his attempt to kill the King or do something else to him (it was unclear). After a grueling battle to enter the cabin Timon and Xian fought but Timon would escape through his magic. The King would be saved but Timon would escape. [Five months Before Adventure #3] Clima was into their third year of operations on a secret plan to regain their past glory. Part of it was to kidnap high ranking officials and diplomats from various lands to use as leverage or bribery to make "friends" for their fleet. The other part was a massive fleet build up. But the secret part was a flying ship (not 1 but 4) that was used to raid various lands of treasure and money. They even attacked as far as Goidan and a fort in Marentia. Spies would learn bits of this information and so King Maros set out teams to learn more. Rumors of the flying ship were laughed at but never proven fact. Two teams went to Clima but were all killed, betrayed by a Climan spy and Marentia traitor. The King made a open call for skilled warriors and magic users to be a third team though would not know the full details of the mission until hired. The party applied for this job having some hint from Varange's attack. There were rumors Timon himself was involved so the King forbade Xian to join but he did anyways by teleporting onto the ship later. Political intrigue caused Duke Valnon to frame Duke Aren at the time. Unali helped Aren to be smuggled on board to clear his name. Once together the ship headed to Clima. After a serious of dodges versus enemy patrols they landed. Once there Bertram would for some reason separate from the party. Thinking he was the traitor he would later end up dead mysteriously upon entering a Climan Barracks. The party would find Suresh the Marentian spy and get further help and details. They would go west to the edge of the island. There they found a secret prison which held the prisoners of diplomats and othrr people. The prison was raided. Outnumbered by at least 5 to 1 the party would win and free the people including Neva and Jordi. Jordi and others joined the party when they later discovered the secret Cloud Base. A naval base that was inside a natural and man made mountain. The party would encounter a mysterious shadow creature that would kill Climans and somewhat help the party as it lived in that mountain. Once inside the mountain the party was outnumbered by 15 to 1 but they still went floor by floor and cleared up the guards and priestess. After hours of battle and exhaustion 3 ships were found in the hidden bay. There the party found magical jars with magical elemental creatures in them that was later determined to give them flight with the help of the Elemental Staff that was captured by the Climas and rebuilt. The Staff allowed the Climans to capture the creatures in the Upper World. The party still did not believe in a flying ship at this point. But one was discovered outside heading from the sky into the base at sunrise. The party quickly attacked this ship in the sky. Z'leyra and Xian leading a task group. But suddenly Varange and a group of 20 other Faerry were seen flying toward the Climan ship. They would help attack it and force it to fall to the water below and be destroyed. Varange declared the base his and the jars to be taken by to his ship nearby and back to the Faerry King. But the party tricked him and refused the offer. Then came a portal where Lady Varo was seen by the party after they entered it. Here Lady Varo offered to take the jars and free the beings. Trembyl would return the powerful Elemental Staff to her as well. Here Corona would join Z'leyra after Fisherking died in battle. The party would then return home on a long sea trip. [Two months Before Adventure #3] [Adventure #2] The party would then spend three months resting after the Climan mission. Ben'dar who was now free being a prisoner on Clima would open a Horse Ranch. Unali would stay with the now innocent Duke Aren. Z'leyra would buy a manor and attempt to open a healing school. During this time though the party would lose Triest to a senseless street crime. At the end of this rest period a friend of the Zen'da, a merchant who has access to travel on the plains, sent Caladan some information. This information was vague but told of a problem on the plains that seemed to be around or near his Ga'fel home village. Dropping everything Caladan set out with the rest of the party to the plains. After a journey from Sivas to Cholchara they ended up on the plains after a few weeks. Once on the plains their first big encounter with danger was a group of Ser'manda warriors. It would be determined later they were altered by Blue Bugs. But the Bugs were not known at this point. Soon after in Ga'fel territory they encountered Grog the Giant and slew him. but he also was under the slight confusion of the Blue Bugs. Without some external influence the Blue Bugs would confuse and alter normal brain activity to do random and unpredictable things. With some control through a person speaking orders or through the Claw the bugs could directly force a person to do their will. Once in Caladan's home village Cetric the Shaman would poison the party and capture them. On waking they would find themselves forced to perform tests of loyalty. Some hard and some easy tasks. Passing all the tests the party would split up. Some would head south to Woundenal, Caladan's Magical Master, to learn as much as he might know in the L'p'nth mountains. While others investigated the grave robberies that seemed to be going on. Woundenal would be a mysterious hermit in a magically secluded mountain valley that apparently only he would allow visitors to find and see. Once inside Xian, Caladan, Chion and Farseeker would try to learn as much as they could from him. But Woundenal only seemed to know of a castle in the mountains to the east of him that was suddenly being re-used by the L'p'nth after a period of time. The other group Z'leyra and Ben'dar chased down a group of grave robbers only to find the Shaman escaping with the Claw he just stole by shape changing into a rabbit. With the distraction of a eagle he escaped the area. Once back together it was learned raids were being done on the eastern border of the Ga'fel tribe. The party, Cetric and some warriors would head out to check this trouble out. Once further east they encounterd Clan Nemat and Praelux (Caladan's cousin). The village had been attacked by a shaman and the claw. He had taken prisoners of the men and women by use of the Claw and blue bugs he summoned. It was then learned this must've been the work of the Bova. The party would cross the border and track the shaman by magic. They would chase him to the Bova camp. The party would then attack the Bova camp and win. Unfortnately the victory was at a cost of 2 warriors and Caladan himself. Some prisoners were taken including many warriors, 2 shaman, a L'p'nth leader and a L'p'nth wizard. The shamans, leader and Wizard were taken back for justice in Caladan's village where they would soon die. Caladan was smuggled inside the camp when it was learned Cetric could resurrect him. Fearing slightly at fault for Caladan's death due to his magic Chion teleported back to Woundenal's place over 400 miles away. He would get help in the form of a spirit stone to ensure Caladan's spirit would not flee when it was bought back from Z'leyra's Oblivion spell. Once back in camp Cetric was able to revive Caladan back to the living. The party then decided after learning details from the prisoners a raid on this castle was needed. The party except for Jordi and Caladan teleported into the castle. While the party was outnumbered 5 to 1 they were able to defeat the castle guards. They would battle a half dozen priestess, bullmen minotaur and a pet tiger monster. In the end Balrog almost ost his life when the leader of the Castle, Ezam, set his trap. Z'leyra was able to escape and not let the Claw be captured. Ezam who the party learned was a Vampire tempted Chion to join him but Chion refused. In the final battle Chion would personally (with some help) kill Ezam high above the mountain in sunlight. The party would gather an estimated 3,000 gold coin treasure from the castle including weapons, armor and horses. Over a series of days (5) the party would teleport back to Caladan's village with the complete treasure. Ezam had been the one behind the L'p'nth threat to gain a new army and conquer the plains. With use of the Claw he had just learned of and the Blue Bugs which happened to come onto the scene through accident he would create thralls that would've done the Bova's bidding. Through the Bova the L'p'nth would grow an army by each victory and soon would've conquered the entire plains. That is until the party had stopped their plans. [Three Months Before Adventure #4] [Adventure #3] Once the party was back on the plains Cetric would offer his lodge to give the party each a Vision Quest through smoke, incense and herbs. Most of the party would take the ritual and would have highly detailed visions including Xian, Z'leyra, Farseeker and Unali to name a few. Strie'bog however would have a vision that would change his current destiny. While the party was preparing to leave to avoid a winter stuck on the plains Strie'bog would call them together. He would explain his vision of seeing by the spirits his home Pavassa forest being aged and destroyed before his eyes. While Cetric would explain the spirits would give visions they may not be fact all the time. But deep down Strie'bog knew it was to come to his homeland. He would ask the party to join him and they all agreed. But Balrog having nearly died in the Castle raid would want to retire for a short term. Together with Jordi and Kasha, Balrog would take the treasure home via Zen'da allies on the river. The party would then turn and head north some 400 plus miles to the Pavassa forest to investigate and see if Strie'bog's mother and the Great Forest was all right. Traveling north they had minor encounters along the way including a boy who would try to steal food from the party. Humagi would also try to chase them and attack but the party avoided most contact along the way. Once inside the Pavassa forest they made camp. But that night a strange Elf would run into camp chased by Giants. After a battle that lead to the death of the giants the Elf named Arawn would join the party unsure how how he got to the forest. Strie'bog would lead the party through the deep forest to the west to his birth place. Once at the cabin they found his mother would be gone and missing. The party would be attacked at the Cabin by Pan'to and a few of his hired help. Unali would almost be killed by Pan'to but he escaped by flying away. Strie'bog would lead the party to the Sacred Forest area to find out where his mother would be. Once in the Sacred Forest Miklav the Forestal would meet the party. But they would also see Pan'to there as well. The forest would throw both Unali and Pan'to out into the normal forest and a fight would cause Pan'to to be captured. Miklav would come and question Pan'to with the forest's help. Soon the party would learn Bohusara was not around but captured by Humagi and fleeing east. After a night of a festival the party went east. Teleprting east onto the Humagi plains the party would head north to a hunting cabin set jut outside the edge of the forest. There they found wards placed in the forest to stop any pursuit. After stopping the wards the party would attack the cabin with Bohusara inside. The cabin would be guarded by about 30 Humagi and 3 powerful witches. After a fight lasting almost 5 minutes the party would see the cabin collapse but Bohusara saved unhurt. The party would then head after hearing of a problem nearby at a lake. Once at Lake Oca they were ambushed by Gray Creatures with strange armor and weapons. The party would win after a tough battle that almost saw Ben'dar and Unali die. After the battle the lake was discovered to be poisoned. After a long series of magic and blessings the lake was cured. The party would then travel west back to the Sacred Forest for the official start of Winter - the Solstice Celebration. Once at the Sacred Grove Thig would stay and a new Faerry would join the party. The party would stay three days and celebrate with the Sidh, Forestal, Green Lady and Vassa before going back to Marentia. [Two Months Before Adventure #4] Teh party returns to Marentia from the Vassa forest. Once back the party spends time from Decalis 23 - Marqi 28 [three months) relaxing and dealing with various personal issues. [Adventure #4] While in a monthly meeting in Sivas at the party's favorite tavern, a lone assassin attacks the party. Unali and others are targets in the attack. Raban, an entertainer, helps the party out with the attack. Chion learns that his homeland's ruler, the High Elder needs help. The party decides to help Chion and the Dark Lands. Once in the Dark Lands the party attends Correll's wedding. The next day the party meets with the High Elder and learn of the flying island and its threat to the Dark Lands. The party agrees to go after it and investigate, take it down if needed. Chion has a personal challenge with his childhood ex-friend Zing and kills Zing. Travelling east the party is attacked by a couple of Giants but they are defeated fast. A couple days later the party finally teleports up the flying island. Once there the party deals with the threats including magical wizards, supernatural forces, magical traps and monsters. Eventually the party befriends a Seker, Elementals and an Anwora. The party decide to destroy the flying island and castle by sending it into the nearby ocean. The party would then return to the High Elder's Citadel to relax and rest.
